Project Description:

This 1926 Classical Revival Town Hall structure was renovated and an 8000 sq ft addition was constructed to provide a new theatre for the performing arts, a seniors’ centre and administration and classroom space for Laurentian College. The central idea was the conservation of the function and purpose of the historic Town Hall building, including the preservation of the heritage facades. The 400 seat theatre addition was set back to respect the prominence of the original tower structure.

Jury Comments

The jury was pleased that the programmatic functions of the original building were maintained. It was felt that this project would be a greatly appreciated by the Huntsville community.
