Fernando Pellicer, President, Chair Communications Committee

Fernando Pellicer is an architect with 33 years of professional practice, the last 22 of which have been in the area of historic conservation and building envelope science.

He has worked on many classified historic sites such as St Patrick's Basilica (1847), Marché Bonsecours (1851), the Québec Parlement (1879), East Block Parliament Ottawa (1867 wing), George Stephen House (1882)and the Clock Tower (1922)of the Old Port in Montréal. He lectures regularly on matters related to masonry conservation at the Université de Montréal, the Québec Building Envelope Consul and the Institute de Maçonnerie du Québec. Louise LaLande, Past President

Louise LaLande is a Senior Architect, Building Specialist and Project Director with LaLande + Doyle Architects Inc. She has undertaken numerous public and private sector projects and her professional experience includes new construction, reconstruction, and intensive and historical renovation.

Louise was the Project Architect for the East Block 1910 Wing Historical Reconstruction, and the implementation of the New Pedestrian Tunnel between Centre Block and East Block, on Parliament Hill, Ottawa. She was recently involved in the historical renovation of l'Edifice Honore Mercier for the Government of Quebec and has extensive experience working with governing bodies such as Public Works and Government Services Canada, the National Capital Commission, the Federal Heritage Building Review Office, and National Defence. www.lplusd.com

Eileen Costello, Treasurer/Secretary

Eileen practises exclusively in the area of municipal and land use planning law, including acquiring development approvals for a broad range of clients and advising municipalities on all aspects of the statutory and regulatory scheme which governs land development and regulation in the province. Eileen also undertakes prosecutions for municipalities in respect of zoning, property standards and building standards enforcement. Eileen appears regularly before municipal authorities and administrative tribunals, most notably the Ontario Municipal Board and the Conservation Review Board. Bruce Ball, Membership Committee Member

Bruce Ball has provided archaeological and historical resource consulting expertise in western Canada for over 10 years. He has extensive experience in research, public archaeology and CRM in Alberta and British Columbia. Areas of expertise include Plains, Plateau and Northwest Coast archaeology, historical research, statistics, GIS, predictive overviews, public archaeology, impact assessment and interpretation, and project management. www.archaeology.ca

Chris Borgal, Chair Strategic Development

Chris Borgal has been involved with over 1,000 projects throughout North America since 1977. His work includes heritage district planning, over 30 museum projects, historic houses, churches, and institutional buildings. He has also worked on projects related to the Centre and West Blocks of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, the British Columbia Legislature, and the Bonavista Lighthouse in Newfoundland. Kerry Gosse, Co-Chair Membership Committee

Kerry Gosse has over twenty years of comprehensive experience in management, architectural design, interior design and contract administration for commercial, institutional and residential and tourism developments. Kerry is responsible for operations and management, as well as many architectural projects undertaken by the firm PHB Group. She has spoken on interior design, facilities planning, and architecture to many schools, colleges, and private groups. Her duties include client liaison, architectural design, interior design, project management and general contract administration. She is an architect with well-developed skills in all areas of design, construction and people management. Andy Huctwith, Chair Professional Conduct & Ethics

Andy Huctwith is a Building Specialist and Bridge Specialist with a background in structural analysis. He is an expert in the evaluation of historic buildings, with particular emphasis on stone masonry and the assessment of structural problems. His work includes such projects as Kingston City Hall, more than 20 churches in Eastern Ontario, buildings at Royal Military College, and buildings for PWGSC.

As a Bridge Specialist, Andy has designed, evaluated, and supervised the reconstruction of wood, stone, concrete, and steel bridges of modern and historic design. He has significant experience with historic arch bridges constructed of either stone or concrete. Eric Jokinen, Chair Membership Committee

As a Building Specialist Eric has been involved in conservation engineering and building science for historic monuments, buildings and structures. James Maddigan, Government Liaison Committee Member

With over 15 years experience, Mr. Maddigan, a Senior Technologist and Associate of Robertson Martin Architects, has worked on a diverse range of new and existing building projects and has developed an expertise as a building technology specialist with emphasis on building envelopes, wood, windows and masonry.He has been a key participant in a full range of projects, acting as team leader and job captain for projects involving new buildings and heritage buildings dating to the early 19th century.

Mr. Maddigan has worked on numerous heritage buildings and sites, many of national significance. Robert Martin, Government Liaison Committee Member

In the architectural field, Mr. Martin has strong general professional experience with specialist skills in the areas of functional planning, specifications, heritage conservation and building envelope design. Recent building renovations, restoration and new building projects, attest to his client’s high satisfaction with functional, durable facilities achieved with elegance and economy of means.

In his professional career, Mr. Martin has been retained by public and private sector clients to assist with all aspects of planning, site development and approvals processes. Lindsay Reid, Chair of Education & Research Committee

Lindsay Reid, OAA, CAHP, LEED AP, is a licensed architect with more than ten years of experience in the field of heritage conservation. She has a special interest in the conservation of our cultural institutions as well as the protection and appreciation of our modern heritage. As a LEED accredited professional she revisits traditional methods and technologies as a means to inform sustainable solutions.

In her role as a project architect/manager Lindsay has accumulated experience in all stages of research, building analysis, design, contract documents, field review and project administration for restoration and renovation projects. Lindsay has worked on many award-winning projects including Ruthven Park NHS, the Distillery District NHS and, as a volunteer, the 1953-2003 TSA Guide Map to post war architecture in Toronto. Lindsay’s previous employment as a heritage planner for the City of Toronto provided her with the opportunity to nurture her project management, negotiation and public consultation skills. Octavio Salcedo

Octavio Salcedo is a conservator specializing in architectural woodwork. After nearly twenty-five years as a finishing carpenter, his extensive work experience includes the restoration and reproduction of deteriorated wood elements such as windows, doors, paneling, etc. He uses traditional methods, materials and applications for wood finishes.

Major restoration and conservation works are: interior woodwork at the Maison Forget, restoration of the William Osler Library (McGill University), windows at the St. George's Anglican church, wood paneling at edifice Ernest Cormier (Palais de Justice), restoration of the Cormier furniture at the Court d'appel de Montréal, windows and doors at the Maison Grove and several other heritage buildings in Montreal. Octavio has recently been involved as consultant for the restoration of windows on the West Block in Parliament Hill. Lisa Seip, Strategic Business Development Member

Lisa Seip has worked as a professional consulting archaeologist with municipalities, government agencies, developers and First Nations in the management of archaeological and heritage resources since 1994. Her area of expertise is historic and prehistoric archaeology, including archaeological inventory, impact, and overview assessments; evaluation and management of heritage resources. Laurie Smith, Government Liaison Committee Member

Laurie Smith is a heritage consultant specializing in historical research and analysis and the preparation of heritage planning tools. Trained as a historian and lawyer, Laurie provides documentation to municipal, provincial and federal governments to support the identification and conservation of heritage resources. Her products include cultural heritage evaluations, cultural heritage impact statements, statements of cultural heritage value, federal heritage building reports, status of designation reports, statements of significance, environmental assessments, conservation plans, commemorative histories and press backgrounders.

Laurie led the development of the Ontario Realty Corporation's Heritage Management Process and has authored or co-authored several heritage guides, including the ORC Handbook, guidebooks for the Canadian Register of Historic Places and educational material for Heritage Canada Foundation. She works with heritage properties across Canada, with an emphasis on Ontario. Laurie was elected to the CAHP Board in 2010.

Jonathan Yardley, Chair Awards and Recognition Committee, Membership Committee Member

Over thirty years experience in heritage conservation. Services range from building assessment, feasibility studies, to full restoration documentation, construction and supervision.
